Bryce Elischer Fine Art

To capture the authentic experience is my goal when painting, to convey mood, feeling and atmosphere Whether it's a plein air scene, a nocturne or a surf painting, I'm trying to convey a sense of being present in that moment to the viewer. Growing up on the central coast of California I found home on the rocky coastlines surfing, and in the dense forests full of thick, misty fog. I drew inspiration early on from the natural beauty around me; from a young age I was drawn into the beauty of the Monterey Peninsula and surrounding areas such as Big Sur. I began oil painting around the age of 11 in a desire to paint images that inspired me. I have always been drawn to landscapes and seascapes, and that is what I first began to paint. After receiving a BFA in Fine Art from Laguna College of Art+Design, I returned to the Monterey Peninsula to continue painting. As my process developed I found great inspiration in painting the night largely in part to seeing the paintings of Charles Rollo Peters, a Monterey Painter from the 19th century known for his famous nocturne scenes around the Monterey Peninsula.

I currently reside in Pacific Grove with my wife Danielle and our three children, where I paint part time at night and work during the day to help support my family. For me, art itself is a higher purpose that I have devoted my life to.
